The bookstore, as always, will be open for Second Saturday. Poet Andrew Sullivan will be on hand tapping into the flux and flow of the evening to generate a community poem. Special sales and giveaways of poetry, small press and otherwise.
Below is Andrew’s note describing his plans for the community generated poem.
Dear Friends near and far,
I will be constructing a community generated poem on July 9 (at the Second Saturday Art Walk) in front of the Book Collector (1008 24th Street, Sacramento) from 4pm to 8:30pm — I will read the poem at 8:30pm at the Book Collector. Please come and help me create the poem by responding poetically to a few questions and prompts I’ve specifically designed for the occasion. My goal in this project is to get people — you and many others — to share their missions (in life or on that day or secret or funny or serious or otherwise) and some of their challenges to fulfilling their missions. My friend Jon Nutting will be videoing the project and some of my former students will be helping gather the information from the crowds of people on the Art Walk. Give yourself the mission to come be a part of creating this poem (and video). Hope you are all well.
